Some claim that studying abroad has great benefits for a student’s home country. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Due to an increase in the effects of globalization, many youngsters chose to pursue their higher studies overseas. Some people opine that learning abroad is advantageous for a person’s home country, and I agree with this viewpoint to a great extent. In my opinion, those who return after completing their studies abroad benefit their nations whereas those who choose to continue to work abroad do not really help their nation much.
In the global village of today, it can be seen that an international education has a myriad of positive impact (impacts) on an individual’s own country. To commence with, students get exposed to international standards of education, which may not otherwise be available in their own nation. After completing graduation, students become more knowledgeable and carry back home enormous innovative ideas and useful skills. For example, in a country like Vietnam, many students travel to the USA to complete their degree in Engineering or Medicine, and after returning back they use their skills to alleviate the problems caused by lack of skilled workers.
Furthermore, students learn about new technology and improved methods to tackle any situation prevailing in their country. Secondly, when a person travels to another country, the host country gets to know about the culture of a foreign country. This, in turn, helps to build heathy(healthy) relationship between the two countries, and it teaches people to be more tolerant of differences; thus, it boosts economy and trade opportunities between nations. To cite an example, there are a large numbers of foreign exchange students between China and Thailand. This has helped both countries to maintain friendly relationships and engage in foreign trade which helps the economy to flourish in many ways.
In contrast, the home country may not be able to reap the benefits of the youngsters’ talent and knowledge if they decide not to return to their homeland and continue staying in the foreign country enticed by better facilities available there. In this case, it leads to brain drain. (331 Words)

It is commonly believed that nowadays main factors that affect a child’s development are media, pop culture and friends. A different point of view is that family plays the most significant role. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

People often debate whether family has a greater influence on children than friends or media. This question has been at the center of a debate for quite some time now. While some people believe that a child’s development is affected by the mainstream media, others argue that it is family members who have a greater impact on them. Personally, I would say that it depends on the area of development; some are shaped by culture whereas a few others are molded by parents.
On the one hand, it is common for children to closely follow and imitate the fashion sense of famous pop artists. This is because most of these kids idolize them and a few others copy their friends’ fashion sense due to peer pressure. Indeed, 80% of teenage girls in the UK follow their favourite singer very closely. They even know the brand of her earring.
On the other hand, many think it is the mother, father or even sibling who has the greatest influence on a child. In fact, there are a lot of aspects of a person’s life which are developed by parents. Religious values and beliefs, for example, are mainly nurtured by our care givers(caregivers). Other traits like food habits, interpersonal skills and social manners too are influenced by immediate family members.
In conclusion, although many argue that children these days are increasingly getting affected by fashion trends, television and their peers, there are still some areas which are significantly developed by their parents such as religious beliefs and values. (255 words)
